The Queequegs raise funds and donate time to support various charities, such as Conquer Chiari, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Red Cross, Heifer International, the Annual Hospice Regatta (New London CT), the Toki Music School on Rapa Nui, and more. One of the Queequeg Chapter's many charitable initiatives is sending care packages to U.S. service members who enjoy receiving these helpful and comforting reminders of home.
We have a team of regular donors (blood and platelets) to the American Red Cross - we have impacted over 800 lives to date!
In 2009, the "Walking Moai" of New England rasied $10,052.52 for the Maine Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The Queequegs reached over half their goal by selling a limited-edition custom Tiki Farm tiki mug designed by Squid.
In the Fall of 2010, the Queequeg chapter participated in a Conquer Chiari Walk in Westbrook, CT. The chapter raised funds to combat this little-known neurological disorder, and enjoyed fun and fellowship in the process.
For the past several years, the Queequeg Chapter has sponsored a food table at the national F.O.M. event, Ohana Luau at the Lake in upstate New York. Proceeds go to the Toki Music School on Rapa Nui to support arts education.
The Fraternal Order of Moai's national charity is the Easter Island Foundation. Through fundraising efforts and by sharing the proceeds of official F.O.M. events, two scholarships are awarded annually to students with Rapa Nui ancestry who wish to further their education.
If you would like more information about the F.O.M., we invite you to join us in our public forum: The Port of the Initiate.
