Theodore Bikel, the original Captain von Trapp in "The Sound of Music" (the song "Edelweiss" was written just for him to sing & play on acoustic guitar), one of the classic Tevye's in "Fiddler on the Roof", the co-founder of Newport Folk Festival with Pete Seeger and George Wein, opened one of Hollywood's first '60s coffee houses, Cosmo Alley, in a space that was later the Ivar Theater & now part of the Hollywood Branch of the LA Library, played the Captain of the Russian submarine in "The Russians are Coming, the Russians Are Coming," and he appeared in Frank Zappa’s experimental "200 Motels," although he's possibly best known for his 1990 appearance on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as the Russian adopted father of the Klingon Worf.
