I got NAUI and PADI certified during my Navy years. My open water was conducted near Eilat, Israel, in the Red Sea. I had never considered becoming a beach bum until then. They had the most awesome dive center set up 50 yards from the shore.
At any rate, my last scuba dive was in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, some 22 years ago. I would love to get back into it.

Alas, we will not be at Ohana: Luau by the Sea this fall. We just couldn't make our vacations sync up.

I got PADI Open Water certified in Subic Bay, Philippines in 1983 and dove on and off quite a bit for a few years then stopped for a while. Then I got the bright idea to start cleaning boat bottoms, and did a share of muddy shallow water dives, but in the end a little as in only a couple times, light salvage. Then I stopped again. I few years I took a refresher course and have been going for it, including getting NITROX and Advanced Open Water certified. In Key Largo last year I got to dive a Navy MK V, which was an incredible thrill! I felt so 20,000 Leagues!

Somewhere in there I was a volunteer docent with the Virginia Marine Science Museum, and an assistant to the Chief Expeditionary Diver of the Cousteau Society.

Mostly these days I do a lot of springs because my Dive Wahine recently got certified, and she is comfortable with this and I am comfortable with her so all is good.
That said… Where do I get a patch or t-shirt of the logo on the index page??????

It is on my calender to attend the Luau by the Sea in October and would love to get a dive in with you guys.

I am a HUGE Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou nerd also....

I am a PADI instructor since 1987 here in South Florida - would be happy to help you out with a refresher course.

Thanks for bumping this sub forum.

I need to figure out a way to close the Molokai and make it to a dive boat the next morning.

Do they do night dives out of Fort Lauderdale?

I still need to get my tanks down from Connecticut. But, all my (and Apres-Tiki's) other gear is with me at the Northern Southern Queequeg Outpost. The Southern Souther Queequeg Outpost being Titusville...

Wow RumMum, That is great! I am in the middle of my rush season for work right now, but after the Holidays I think I need to get my equipment all serviced and get back to diving a bit. What boat do you use? We dove a little with Dixie Diver on the Lady Go Diver, but found the crowd a little too intense..Prefer a smaller boat.

Dixie Divers does night dives fairly frequently. I have never done a night dive...it is one of the things I need to do on my way to getting my advanced certification... it kind ofreaks me out a bit...but maybe if I knew that afterwards I was headed to the Molokai Bar it might be a good incentive to get through it. lol
