I love exotica. Love the rock-a-billy infusion into contemporary Tiki.

I've sat in Don's Dagger Bar at least a dozen times in the last year and enjoyed the music...from the Hula Girls to the Volcanics.

Our group was at Tiki Ti last weekend for the Hula Girls album listening session.

Now...all these wonderful folk...all the late nights... all the wonderful booze ...it's just crying for a good group sing. How about a sea shanty about rum and fine company?

The Queequeg have the official appointed position of Shanty Man. Having someone call out cadence helps when we are hauling anchor, hauling, or just hoisting, be it sail or beverage.

Pray tell me, oh anointed one, of what tunes does the Queequeg sing?

The Granite Tiki is currently the Lord High Shanty Man.

There may still be video of the While Whale Tavern room at Ohana '14 unless the FOM Test Labs will get to it, someday.

Footage? Hell, that film reel was about all we salvaged from the wreck, along with 60 days' worth of hardtack, two tortoises and a tinderbox:

Actually it was only one tortoise.

Enrique is still unaccounted for.

Enrique is a rebel.
That tortoise won't even stash it's beer can driving by a doughnut shop on the 4th of July.

I thought that reel was lost forever in the chest with all of the tips.

Bring some of that hard tack to tomorrow's muster. They salvaged some salt pork from the skipjack that went down off the bar. We'll make a wedding of it.

That's the ticket lads!

A fine foot stomping crew. Whilst belting out mighty shanties they joyfully flog the blood of the white whale to any and all.

We went to the agent Jet Sterling-organized Oktoberfest in Champaign-Urbana last week and heard many many versions of "Roll Out the Barrell." I believe at one point Riptide, Kingdong and myself came up with a hilarious tiki version...but sadly it floated away on a sea of German beer.
