Hey all, kinda new here so, first off, Hello! I'll be at Ohana n the Lake and looking forward to participating in the booze, err fun.

I have been asked to recommend paper straw brands for a friend's cafe. I'm sure there's quite a few of you who have a favorite kind that you use on your tiki bar and/or at party's. So go, give me some favorites.

TIA
Finn.

Looking for a reliable brand since this is a retail business. The cafe owner will be using many for to-go drinks.

You can find everything you need here: https://www.aardvarkstraws.com/products/

These straws hold up for 3 hours without becoming soggy.

I appreciate the environmentally conscious decision to not use plastic! That being said, I absolutely abhor using paper straws. Even more so when I am pacing my consumption. My wife has recently started carrying steel straws (in a bamboo carrying case) for us to use when eating/drinking out.

I wonder if that would be a solution for a restaurant? The packaging states that they are dishwasher safe.

Stainless steel straws would be pretty pricey for the stated purpose, no? I far prefer plastic straws over paper ones myself, but they're killing the planet.

I can't stand those ice cold metal straws, especially the feeling when they hit your teeth.

How about biodegradable/compostable plastic? I found THESE on Amazon but there were a bunch of other hits as well.

Don’t forget to use Amazon Smile to support the Fraternal Order of Moai if you purchase from Amazon!

I just prefer drinking out of the glass or mug, no straw. Who needs 'em?

We’ve been testing paper straws at Tiki Underground for the past 6 weeks, we purchased them through Amazon and they’ve worked better than expected. Thank you for the referral to Aardvark as it would significantly lower our cost per unit to buy them in bulk (currently 7-9 cents per straw).

The State of Ohio won’t allow us to wash external straws (stainless steel, bamboo, etc) but our customers are welcome to BYO.

Based on research we’ve done, plastic straws are less than .05% of the global problem, but we’re happy to help how we can....

The chemistry is cool but a lot of compostable or biodegradable plastic really only works if you put it through a commercial composting facility and those are available in a very small number of places.

Right now the compostable straws seem way cheaper than the paper ones for some reason.

Personally, I have multiple steel straws I use and I love them. For those who don't like the feel, there's

Silicone straws

And even a nifty bamboo one for the tiki feels:

Complete with straw squeegee!

Which seems necessary, I am a bit skeptical of the ones that say they can just go in the dishwasher.

Once you start looking there are a million products.
