Hi I’m looking to hopefully join the local chapter here in Atlanta after hearing about it from my friend James at the Hukilau this year. I’ve been in Atlanta since 1995 and early on starting go to Trader Vic’s here. That is where my love of tiki grew and interest in Polynesian culture. My other interests include aquariums and fancy goldfish, roller skating (retired from roller derby), mid century modern, and Japan. I’ve been with my husband Darrin for 20 Years (married in 2006) and we have two dogs (Rottweiler and Shih Tzu), a cat, two fancy goldfish, and six nerite snails.

Mollye Murder #187. I was with the Atlanta Rollergirls in 2007-2008 in training. Made the home team the Toxic Shocks in 2009. From 2010-2012 I played on the home team the Denim Demons. Had a few opportunities to play on the travel team in between. I did rec league in 2013, but got injured so that was the last time I competed. It was a lot of fun and a tremendous amount of work. We DIYed everything.

Very cool! My name was Edie I. Mean. I was with Rocky Mountain Roller Girls from 2006 to 2009 (or -10 I forget). My main home team was the Sugar Kill Gang, transferred later to Dooms Daisies. I played with our B travel team, The Contenders for a year or two before retiring permanently due to repetitive stress to my ankle (too many left turns). I loved the DIY ethos of derby too. My favorite job with the league was making the trophies. It's wonderful to see another derby girl here.

Welcome!

Haha, Derby runs pretty deep here. Several former derby girls, including my wife LuRu. Actually the first bout we ever saw was the Toxic Shocks visiting our Gold Coast Derby Girls around 2011 I think. I've got a Shocks t-shirt. Voodoo LaRoux skated for a year or two then quit her job to start her own business and figured that it would be tough to do while on disability, which seemed like an inevitability, so she left derby. Several other fellows have skated.

Oh, and we'll see you at the SurfStomp!

How exciting that there are derby girls here! Please find me at Surfstomp E33 - I'd love to meet you and LuRu. I hope to meet you one day rumamok! It makes sense from what I've read about FOM that there would be other derby peeps here. It takes a lot of work to be in the sport and to run a league. I imagine it is similar to the FOM.
