So, bacon spirits are in. Tequila is left to the parrot-heads
Weight classes
Exotic motif
up to and including "escorts"; live, zombie, inflatable or other non-decaying form.

Must have a handle?

Vintage division: based on commercially available styles manufactured before Pan Am went under
Carry-on: fits in an overhead compartment of a 747-100
Checked: up to steamer trunk size that you could check as luggage on a L1011 flight to Hawaii
Unlimited: can be moved using standard forms of interstate transportation without special permits or military escort. (Thunderbird 2 pods, if they can operate on their own as above)

My Samsonite suitcases are hiding and the fender amp is looking worried.

Met the DeTiki folks at Oasis last weekend. They seemed like nice folks and their cases looked pretty cool "strong stuff, made of wood".

We got an unexpected gift from some good friends of ours on Friday. A custom-built portable bar made from a music gear case.
It's about 70 pounds when it's full of stuff (minus booze, though), but it's got wheels.

The foam under the lid has cutouts for a platter and ice bag/tablecloth/garbage bag

The lid turns into a table, too.

There are 2 drawers which hold 8 glasses each - with foam cutouts for a tight fit. They even equipped it - blender, shakers, knives, cutting boards, glasses, reamer and bottles. I'll probably add a few things (and swap out a few), but damn, what an amazing gift. I've got to decorate it now, but this bar is ready to roll!

That is awesome, was the lid designed to be a table or did they modify that?

Modified. They bought the empty case on Craigslist and then handed off to a guy who they knew who does case customization (usually for music gear, not travel bars). They showed him all of the stuff they wanted to put into it and he took it from there. I never would've thought of that.

Way nice!

That one sets a new standard for picnic baskets.

Are the partitions and drawer wood/mdf?

The table is genius. Great gift.

I showed this to Eric (my non-drinking husband) and even he was impressed. He did have one question -- he wanted to know if the small brown tiki head (looks like flower pots we have) is a tip jar!?!?!

Wow...that table option sure is nice. Makes me wish I hadn't given away a lot of old luggage when I moved. Hmmmm, thinking about what I do have. I also would love to see a trailer thread...I so want a nice little retro trailer. Gonna watch for suitcases at the thrift stores now.

Feels like wood, but not sure...everything's covered in that carpeting.

It's full of straws and other stuff at the moment, but I like the tip jar idea. It'll probably have to go so I can squeeze more stuff in there.

Who is going to bring this one to Lake George? It's "For Sale!"

"1951 Royal Spartanette 35-foot travel trailer, originally built by the Spartan Aircraft Company, has been restored and customized as a classic car hauler with adjacent lounge space and bathroom."
"Up front is a partitioned air-conditioned and heated Tiki Lounge"
"The cabin is done in aluminum trimmed bamboo that fit the curvature of the interior perfectly"
"The clam-shell rear doors open to reveal articulating ramps and a 21-foot long and 7′6″ wide garage area that the seller designed for a 1956 Lincoln Continental "

Wow.

That's really impressive. I'll add it to me "when I win the PowerBall" list.

Along the same lines I saw a cool steamer trunk converted into a bar online the other day but it was $5K!

There is a '56 or '57 Continental languishing beneath a carport less than a mile from my house.
I pass by it every day and dream of restoring it to tuxedo black paint with ox blood red leather
interior and driving it to my tiki bar every day for work. The trailer would be nice for out of town
trips though ....

Stop and make an offer.
If you don't bring it to Ohana this year, you'll be another year older when you do.

It would make a great tow car for a tear drop tiki trailer. That Caddy that Travis brought last year needs some company.

My car and motorcycle affliction is a pre-existing pre-marital condition, so I take less domestic heat (bad type) when I drag home a whole car than when I bring home another tiny little tiki mug. YMMV

I agree.
It is time to build something awesome and useful.
With the byob holiday season around the corner, now is the time to get a travel bar together.

That book thing with the nips gives me an idea.
What are those books carried by people walking around neighborhoods wearing dresses and suits?
