Yes, it is the 'official' flag of Rapa Nui. But, I am going to have to go to early morning confession. What I am seeing here looks lie the silhouette of many a boyhood fantasy...straight out of the pages of Playboy magazine. Is it just me???

"From south of her loins, I could see the twin peak on the distant horizon. I knew I was home!!!"

I literally don't see it - just a little "X" box...

That's a tiny little flag...I can hardly see it. Would you fly it from a toothpick?

I am not quite sure why I am seeing the graphic (on my post and this thread) full size about 7x5 and you guys aren't. No worries, it is just incredibly sensual, thats all.

I can see the image, just not what is so sexual about it.

Are you saying it looks like a woman lying down with her legs in the air?

I'm trying to figure out what it's really supposed to be.

If there's a problem with your image hosting, maybe you should try Photobucket. I posted some pictures there, and then decided to remove them. I deleted the pictures, but they still show up here. I can't get rid of them.

Actually, I'm seeing the flag now, and I get it Vince.

If you're not seeing the flag here, google it.

Why so serious?

And yes, I saw a Joker smile more than anything sensual... but then again, I'm a geek first, and a perv second.

Or one of those old, freaky Sesame St. animations from the '70s where some kid is lost and is trying to find his way home from a strange neigborhood.

I will check my photo hosting site and get it updated.

kay, now that you guys have seen this image, what the hell is it? Easter Island is shaped like a boomerang, but with the ends pointing down and at a more sever angle. Even with my deviant imagination, I can not figure out this symbol.

It is a reimiro: "a decorative crescent-shaped pectoral ornament."

GORGET (gore-jet): Most Native American tribes incorporated items such as this into their daily and ceremonial attire as well. These items were considered to be pretty powerful medicine....similar to the little tiki gods we wear around our necks today.

Given that, it's surprising that we don't have one for the FOM.

It looks to be a simple design....so a cast could be made rather easily for replication purposes.

It's amazing how similar art like this is from all over the world. Native American totems aren't a whole lot different from Polynesian tikis. African masks aren't too much different from Polynesian, or Native American masks.

This reminds me of some royal neck wear, but I can't find an example.

Yep...it is pretty cool. Be careful the next time we find ourselves sitting around a table knocking back a few bourbons....I can blabber on about early trade-routes and primitive cultures for longer than I care to admit.

Okay this is from the Sci-fi show Babylon 5, but I'm sure I've seen something similar in real life:
