Aloha and welcome to the islands of the Fraternal Order of Moai.
The Port of the Initiate is the sandy shore where the public can interact with the Fellows of the Order. You may be seeking information about the FOM, an event such as Ohana, or just a good stiff Mai Tai. Rest assured you've washed ashore at the right place.
All are welcome to post here. Topically speaking, you may post about whatever you like.
The Port is a chat forum, but the FOM is not a Tiki chat room. We are the premier fraternal organization and social network for all men and women interested in Tiki culture and the Polynesian pop era. In keeping with our core value of Good Works, we have raised thousands of dollars to fund scholarships through the Easter Island Foundation, and support numerous charities at the local chapter level.
We are Fellow Moai, and much of what we do involves interacting in real life. You may recognize us at Tiki events by the mystical blue Fez worn by certain Fellows among us who are known as the Honui, or "honored ones." These hallowed symbols of the Order may only be earned through service to the FOM.
Being a Moai involves our other core values: Fellowship, Spirit, Presence, Preservation and Celebration. Tiki is our common bond, but our interests and actions extend well beyond that central theme.
The ways of the Order remain a mystery to all but the Moai. Consequently, most of the forums beyond the Port are accessible only to Fellows who have completed the Trials of the Initiate and been accepted by the Order.
If entrance to the Order is your goal, please make it known in one of your posts. More details about becoming an Initiate Moai Ra'e are available elsewhere in the Port.
If you seek other information or are merely curious, please feel free to explore the Port as a Tourist. Just watch out for the goat; he's been known to bite.
You will need to create an account if you wish to chat with the Fellows. One of them will be along shortly with a cocktail and lei to welcome you to our shores.
Mahalo for your interest in the Fraternal Order of Moai. We look forward to talking story with you.
Keep the torches burning.
