We are waiting Portland's new Tiki Bar. I have been in touch with a few individuals who are close to it. Most of us see the articles on line. Se it is expected about mid-December. On Tuesday, 1 Dec, there will be a Preview Party to try out Rhum's new drinks at Bramhall Pub.

I will be in Phoenix… Damn… Any good tiki bars there or Ohana friends?

Let me know if anyone would road trip to this event. But we are looking to plan a opening visit when Rhum opens.

great to have you up. I have some ideas for stay locations on the way for you. I will try and confirm the date they open with the people I know. I hope they stay to plan. For those who travel, we may have some places to stay.

I was in town yesterday. Went by the store front and see they have their logo and name on it. There was another article.

http://pierce.bangordailynews.com/2015/ ... is-winter/

The thought (from some of the local bars) was by mid Feb. they would be open. There are 3 surfer rock bands playing in Portland on 2/20. I know one of the bands. If Rhum opens, it would be a good weekend for a Tiki venture in Portland.

The word is from the local bartenders, that tonight is Friends and Family at Rhum. Expected to be open this weekend.

My proposal is that we have a Ohana Tiki day in Portland Maine on 2/20. There are 3 Surfer bands playing in town that night. There are several bats worth visiting due to the quality of there drinks. With Rhum being our main stop before hitting the bands at 8:30.

Any interest?

Ok. My spelling needs some work on this phone, but I'm sure it's understandable.

Definitely interested in getting a look at the place. We'd probably make it a day trip though so not sure if we would stay for an evening event.

If your coming from Lebanon you can go through Conway and stay at my vacation place in Bridgton. It will make trip easier. I have lots of room. Nobody using it.

Enjoy the weekend in Maine and Portland.

TikiFlyer, look forward to checking this place out! Do you know what bands are playing the 2/20 event? I'm thinking about it.

There's an invite-only industry night tonight ( restaurant folk and food writers) at Rhum. It will open to the public soon after. Jason won't give out an exact date. He worries when it gets out, they'll be swamped. I will have date soon. But 20 Feb is looking real good for visit to Portland.

No photos got out, but I was told that there's a tile skull and crossbones in the entrance, and a tiki hut-style bar. Drinks are reported to be great, most are classic tiki. Along with those special tiki mugs they had made.

Here is a YouTube walkthrough back on Feb 1 of the new bar. They had it all cleaned up and ready for the 2 events held 4 and 5 Feb this last week.

Rhum opening was a quite one. Closed today for a break. Will head down one night this week after this snow goes through. I will take some pictures. Does anyone know how I post on this site? I could use another means.

Here is an article after he Friday event.

I did get Mai Tai first. Liquor combination is based on a balance of price and quality. My Gay vs Appleton/Clements (Maine does not have El Dorado). They make their own Orgeat and Curaćao.

Trying the Rhum designed drink King Kong Sledgehammer. Awesome...

I really want to host this event to Rhum and Portland on 2/20. Also the Oyster Stomp and bands at Bayside. I can help with putting people up in Bridgton. I can help plan transportation. I would like to know who's interested. And how many. I think Rhum is a great addition, and upscale, to the tiki bars in the NE. And could impact a future NETT event. But that is for the FOM to decide, I believe. (Still learning here). Let me know if anyone is interested in 2/20.

What is amazing is how packed this place is on a Wednesday night. No advertising. A little social media with Facebook and Instagram. No website up yet. No other articles. But this is packed. Hard to find a set. And this place seats 120.

We definitely want to head over on the 20th. Not sure how long we'll stay, but we'll probably plan to get there right at opening.
