The presentation was very good. However, the room acoustics were horrible. The hard vaulted ceilings and glass display cases reflected every sound.
The display cases had some interesting artifacts. It wasn't as cool as a sleep over at the Explorer's Club. Wiley Post's high altitude helmet.
Two 4oz cocktails, water and pretzels was the menu. Plantation OFTD was in the second.

I think I enjoyed the Zombie seminar with Jeff Barry in Boston more. It was focused on the drink and the financial/market conditions. This one bounced around. The arc I would have liked to see developed more, or at least completed was the development of the tiki bar environment from the Coconut Grove to the Mai Kai to the Lost Lake. The framework was there. It got lost in the Don and Vic biographies and the decline of the Mai Tai. (Which would have been another cool arc to develop.)

Still, 4.5 goats out of 5

Sent from somewhere exotic

I "worked" a half a day.

We couldn't make Foong Lin due to it being a school night and we rushed home right afterwards and still didn't hit the house until 12am. :(

There was a stop at a Roy Rogers though.

I concur with what Doug said.

I give it a 4.75 Goats.

I agree about the sound system. I think some of it may have been the PA system they were using, as well. I would gladly have paid twice as much for twice as long (and twice as much to drink!!).

The cocktails were the Planters Punch, and the Formidable Dragon. The Dragon was........incredible. I think it really showed the complexity of an exotic cocktail, and how the mixture of ingredients can lead to something that is more than the sum of its parts. I would have sworn that there were other things in there than what the ingredient list said. I'll be mixing some of them up at home.

I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. 4.5 Smugglers. And House of Foong Lin certainly did right by the late shift--the place was packed until almost 11--and Zombies were on special for $6. Woo-Hoo!!!

Does anyone happen to remember the Formidable Dragon recipe he showed on the screen?? I made one out of the book this past weekend, and while quite yummy it wasn't the 'OMG' flavor I remember from the presentation.

(I suppose it could be attributed to the 'tiki drink in situ' effect that he talked about........hmmm)

The screen shots were in the handout. I think it was there.
