Aloha again!

Now that I have a bit more time on my hands today, I thought I would properly introduce myself to the community :)
Some of you know me from Ohana or other tiki festivals around the US..my name is Genevieve and I'm a graphic designer from Montreal, Canada! My first language is french so bare with me if my English isn't perfect ;)

I've been a fan of tiki for quite a while but i'd say it's in the past 10-12 years that it grew exponentially! Having a great partner in crime (Mr Jim Bones Johnson) who shares the same interest helps a lot :D We've manage to see quite a bit in our travels and I can safely say it's still the beginning of our adventures!

Since we've been going to Ohana religiously for the past 7 years, some of you may ask why I haven't taken the plunge earlier ... I think it was mainly a question of geography and also I believed we had to start a chapter with the right amount of people right away and we were not in the position to do that just yet.

On our own turf, Jim and I started a little tiki fraternity of our own and we've been doing monthly (minus a few) meetings for over 3 years now. Our little 7 people group is great and it's always nice to meet with them but I find we've become more or a fancy drinking club (not that there's anything wrong with that!) than a fraternity. To me, what's missing is the purpose... I love that you guys do something for charities and spread the Aloha spirit! I want that too! :)

Long story short (I don't want this post to take on Bargoyle-esque proportions!), I hereby declare my interest in joining FOM and I would suppose that my next step would be to find a sponsor ...anyone? :D

Mahalo!

hehe thanks Alice!

It was a big deal for me since I'm kinda shy :)

Goats are nicer in Canada I hear :)

Talk with some of the people you know well from Ohana about sponsorship! I am sure one of them will vouch for you!

Yes, I do like hot dogs :) And speaking of SPAM, we'll be trying to make those SPAM fries we've seen on facebook for our meeting this weekend! I shall share the full report once we sober up :P
