Hi all, I'm new here. My TC handle is Robotiki and I'm currently spearheading the efforts to restore the Bahi Hut to it's former glory. I started going there in 1978 and it's pretty much intact so we are fortunate not to have to undo anything. The owner of the property, the mysterious Mr. B. has been wonderful at letting us do what we want. Having been a museum conservator and curator before I was an art director, I'm treating this as a museum restoration. Hope to see a lot of you all in there when we are done! More to follow!

Aloha !

Glad to see ya finally wash up on our shores... took ya long enough! I started a thread about The BH and your/our efforts there:
http://www.fraternalorderofmoai.org/huimalu/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21088

BIG Ole' HUZZAH for getting things rolling at The Bahi Hut, your efforts are truly noble and I know I speak for all of us here when I say... Mahalo ! !
Since you are here now and SPEARheading the effort... and more involved and in the loop than I can be... ( you are the loop ) maybe you can start keeping us posted in that thread on the preservation efforts.

I already know ya but I'm pretty sure the rest of F.O.M. would like to get to know ya so... This thread is the place to let em' know more about who Robotiki is and what floats yer boat. Some of you may remember Robotiki from ... was it Hukilau 2012...2013? when we did the room crawl and you had the awesome robot room!

That was just the tip of the iceberg... his SciFi collection is HUGE !
The Natives crave more 411... give it up !

Aloha! I've been following a lot of this on Tiki Central and FB. Thank you so much for stepping in and to the others nearby who are helping. Jeff's tikis are amazing! Hoping to get there soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome. As my handle implies, I'm addition to tikis, I'm into robots. As in full scale repros of movie robots. Being quite huge, they take up a lot of space and have their own room. The robot room is always changing. One comes in and another goes out. As soon as I get the hang of this I'll post some images. Meantime keep up with the progress on our Bahi Hut project on the thread Bo started. In a sea of stories of lost tiki venues, this is emerging as a story of preservation. We are so fortunate to have caught this thing in time and turned it around.

I've still been working on the Bahi Hut stuff. A mug is the project of the day. The launch version will be very limited to only 40 and will feature a orange -red inside glaze to honor the kerosene mai tais of the same color. The rest will have the color of the front door on the inside.

John is STILL drunk!!!

This is exciting! I can't wait to venture down to Sarasota to visit this gem!

Robotiki, welcome to our shores. One of the first things you may pick-up from our ranks is that we are all passionate -- extremely passionate about tiki preservation. Keep up the passionate "aloha" good deeds! Mana to you AND to the mysterious Mr B!!! In his honor, perhaps you can name your signature tiki mug "The Mysterious Mr. B!" It seems like the tiki gods are smiling down on you to have this man supporting from the wings. This is truly some type of divine intervention from this place being wiped away...and makes me immensely happy!

MANA, MANA, MANA to you as you restore this tiki gem!!!

Well the first ever Bahi Hut mug is selling quicker than I had imagined. We kept the launch version limited to 50 to keep it kinda exclusive and I'll have the last 20 there for sale this weekend. I am already working on our next one which will be Maori in design and named after the signature Sneaky Tiki drink they sell there.

On other news, I've been working on more of my other passion, full scale robots....this month I'll be receiving Maria from Metropolis for my collection to replace the one I sold.
