Aloha: We'll be in Orlando from Jan 14 - 24 and have few solid plans... we will visit the Mouse, Pablus and a high school friend of my wif, but other than that we are, how do you say... le vagabond? We are stationed in Orlando but Will Travel for Friendship! Thinking of Mai Kai on the Jan 19th but open to any suggestions. Wish you are there!

That there is a nice 3 1/2 hour schlep from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale.
But worth it in my opinion.
Make sure you stop at the Skunk Ape Research Facility in Ochopee.

Straight shot south down 27/29, then east through Alligator Alley.
...and yes, there will be alligators on the road.
That's why it's called Alligator Alley.

all these suggestions are awesome - if you feel like driving due west of Orlando, there is Weeki Wachee Springs with the mermaids etc., but I'm sure you already know that
