So this past weekend my wife and I did a 3 day tiki road trip from Vegas to San Diego. We hit new bars every day for a total of 7. Our list was (Day 1 Las Vegas)-Golden Tiki, Frankie's (Day 2 Palm Springs)- The Reef, Tonga Hut (Day 3 Huntington Beach, San Diego)- Don the Beachcomber, The Grass Skirt, Bali Hai.

I know there are some hard core tikiphiles here  so it got me thinking I wonder what the longest non stop tiki trip that some of you have been on was. Thus, my question to everyone out there is.. What is your longest continuous tiki bar run without a day break in between?

That sounds like a fun weekend, AnTiki and I are planning a NoCal / SoCal run at the end of June.

My longest so far has been Day 1, London Trader Vics, Day 2 Munich Trader Vics... then work took back over ;-)

I can't remember which day we did what, but there was a Bay Area trip that involved, from Wednesday to Sunday, Pagan Idol (twice), the Tonga Room, Smuggler's Cove, Forbidden Island (twice), Trader Vic's (at least twice), and Whitechapel (not tiki, but owned by Martin Cate).

It was a couple of years ago, so it's all kind of a blur.

My husband and I did a similar Southwest Tiki Crawl a few years ago, from LA to Palm Springs and then Las Vegas. We hit up the following tiki bars:

1. Purple Orchid, because it was closest to LAX
2. Tiki Ti and Tiki No in the same night
3. Tonga Hut and Bootlegger Tiki in Palm Springs, in the same night
4. Frankie's Tiki Room
5. Rhumbar in the Mirage. I wouldn't consider this a true tiki bar, but they have some tiki drinks

There were some breaks in between, where we did drink at some non-tiki bars along the way. It was a better way of spending the Thanksgiving holiday vs. with family. We flew into LA and drove to Palm Springs, then Vegas, and flew out of Vegas, back home to Atlanta.

Tiki tourism is the best! The husband and I are thinking of planning similar trip in the Pacific Northwest (Portland / Seattle).

We also did an LA/OC/SD one in... 2009? We hit Bali Hai in SD, Don's in OC, Trader Vic's LA (before it closed), Tiki Ti, Bahooka, and Tonga Hut (LA version). Gotta get there again since there is new stuff that wasn't open yet (Trader Sam's, Tiki No).

Longest distance wise? In 2009 I went from the Mai-Kai in Fort Lauderdale to Trader Vic's in Bahrain. Obviously, not on the same day, but we had dinner at the Mai-Kai the night before I left then Vic's was the first place I went out to in Manama. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go to Trader Vic's, London, since I was only there 3 hours waiting on a flight.

Hmm... I haven't really done a long Tiki trip. We usually combine Tiki/cocktail bar tourism with whatever we are doing. I guess the longest might be a trip to NYC where we went to about nine bars on a Friday, a Tiki event judged by Beachbum Berry and Emeril at the NY Wine and Food festival on Saturday and ended with Tiki Mondays at Pouring Ribbons.

Other than that, we do short road trips to Shameful Tiki Room Toronto, and Porco (Cleveland).

If everything works out the way it seems, this summer will be my longest tiki trip. 2 weeks of driving and hopefully hitting either a home bar, Ohana, or actual bars. Road trip from Indianapolis to Niagara Falls, Buffalo, Ohana (Lake George), Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto....
