I listened to ⅔ of it in the car on my way home tonight. Some interesting history about Hawaii and the origins of the aloha shirt (plus how it differs from “resort shirts”). I’ll finish it in the morning on my way in to work.

personally, i find the distinction between aloha shirt and hawaiian shirt a bit persnickety.

totally true that the shirts hawaiians wear on the islands are typically classier and more low-key, often back-printed for that cool muted look.

but, really, i call all my shirts aloha shirts. to imply a shirt is not "aloha" if it has a tiki or a surfboard or attractive human represented on it, smacks of snobbery. just my feels.

Since well over half my shirts are more in the “resort” vein, I am apparently not too choosy either.

As a bigger guy, it doesn’t help that there’s not a lot of vintage out there for me to choose from...

I liked this episode! But I think everyday should be aloha, not just Friday. In other words, driving by the true spirit of aloha and not a clothes manufacturer.
