My name is Dana and I am typing this from the beautiful locale of Myrtle Beach. I have always been interested in Tiki and Polynesian culture and after a few stays at Disney's Polynesian Resort in FL I cannot get enough of it all. I have always been attracted to fraternal organizations. Finding this organization seems like a good fit. In keeping with the established rules of this group I hereby declare my intention to become a Fellow Moai. Cheers all!

Welcome Vul-kar!

Tell us a little more, what’s you favorite Tiki drink? Or establishment? We have a couple of members in the (broad) area, they will say hello soon.

Aloha and welcome Vul-Kar!

I might be one of the closest members, hailing from Durham, NC. I think we are about 3.5 hours apart. Do you know about Inuhele Tiki Weekender in Atlanta this March? https://atlantatikitour.com It's not a FOM event, however, many members are involved and will be there. We'd love to meet you.

Cheers!

If I had to put down my favorite drink, I’d have to go with Mai-tai.

I didn’t know about the event in Atlanta, that sounds neat.

I also really enjoy travel and adventure. I have over 8 months sea time from my tour in the Marines and have visited numerous countries in Asia, Europe and Central America. Any other adventure bugs in this group?

Thanks to those who’ve bid me greetings. I’m new to forums so bear with me.

Jarhead eh? Myrtle Beach now makes sense. We have grunts, squids (me for one), zoomies and a coastle as well.

One of our members is currently on an Antarctic adventure and many of us travel regularly.

Looking forward to hearing your Tales of Adventure be they in the South Seas, South America (try the Caipirinha) or other exotic locale.

Oz, thanks shipmate. My son is at the "Age of Decision" and looking at the Air Force. I tried to steer him to one of the Naval services but so far no luck. Though you can't beat their quality of life. Either way, I'm happy he's thinking about doing something positive.

Aloha Vul-Kar and welcome to the port!Mai Tais are a favorite...unless you order on at the Bahi Hut in Sarasota...which is a unique experience altogether. We were all talking about Mai Tais just last night.
I have also caught the travel bug though with your time in the marines you have no doubt traveled farther than I have.
Where is the most exotic place you have traveled/ favorte destination?

JonTiki, I'd say Costa Rica was one of my favorite locales. Spent 10 days there and experienced snorkeling at a coral reef, walking through a cloud forest, Monkeys, tucans, sloths, and walking up the side of an active Volcano. Such a neat place, still very much wild yes. The Locals, known as Ticos, are a generous and welcoming folk. Highly recommend it. I'll also keep your recommendation in mind regarding Sarasota :)

Congratulations on his choice, whatever he decides on. Every service has its forté, and I'm sure he will find what suits him. My Father (a maverick) steered me into college then the military which worked out well for me.
I saw this online and found it to be humorous. Funny how the Marines (and the Army) have seldom changed their slogan. I think it is becoming an annual competition for the Navy but it seems the Air Force ignores everyone but the aircrew.

2020 Military Official Slogans:
USAF: "Aim High, Fly-Fight-Win"
USN: "Forged by the Sea"
USA: "Army Strong"
USMC: "The Few, The Proud"
USCG: "Born Ready"

Military Honest Slogans:
USAF: "Come in, have a seat."
USN: "5,000 dudes surrounded by water."
USA: "A sh*tty job for anyone and everyone."
USMC: "Marines for-f*ucking-ever."
USCG: "Find a way."

Thanks Sandbartender.

Also, thank you for your service to the Galactic Empire. Alderaan had it coming.

Same question to you sir, Either favorite destination or adventure you have undertaken. If that's you in your profile pic, most impressive facial hair.

I support this message! Also, if you ever venture down to Atlanta in general, there are three very different bars to check out.

So glad you asked! There’s a FB group called Carolina Tiki that I started so that we could all meet, even if only virtually. As for Inuhele, it would be great to have meet-up. I will put that together. I’m guessing this means that you are making plans to attend?

Was just seeing if there was, should I ever find my way close to that area. I did ask and was accepted into your FB group.
