Ahoy, Maties! I haven't posted here in awhile so I'm re-introducing myself and stating my intention once again to join your esteemed hui. I'm going to make an effort to contribute more to this community. A little bit about me: I'm a Denver based illustrator/designer and avid tiki collector. A connoisseur, if you will. I also have a small collection of antique mid/mod Herman Miller furniture and a '61 VW Beetle I call the Haole Mobile. I discovered tiki culture circa 2005 while living on Maui when my wahine and I happened across the old Thor Store in Waikiki. I walked out considerably lighter in the wallet that day, but I was thoroughly hooked. Still have those mugs on a shelf right above me as I type this, but the girlfriend is long gone. I dig pretty much every kind of tiki and polynesian pop, but my personal taste leans towards the lowbrow/Man or Astroman/Big Daddy Ed Roth flavor. This might be sacrilege 'round these parts, but I'm more of a beer guy than a cocktail imbiber. Though I wouldn't turn one down at a bar. So aloha... again. |

Aloha SqueakyTiki, We are down in Austin, TX and run up to CO every spring break to ski. We always make a stop on the way home at Adrift and this March plan to hit Hidden Idol. Have you been? Got any feedback to share? Looking forward to checking out a new place. Welcome back to the Port! AnTiki |

Aloha! I'm a beer drinker myself. I love a good tiki drink, but I can't always handle the acidic juices after a bit. I've been noticing that many breweries have tiki influenced beers. Some aren't so bad. Check out this thread about different Tiki Beers. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21993 |
