Welcome to our site. Read up on all the crazy rules and procedures.

Tell the others onthis board about yourself if you haven't already.

It's always good to see you at gatherings, and I envy your ice shave machinery. Folks may ask you to explain that btw :)

Yes, pull up a chair and tell about yourself... and the ice.

Hey everyone!

I’m Bob Dance (Benjamin Eades) from Atlanta, GA! I’m a camera assistant in the film industry (IATSE Local 600) and a cocktail enthusiast.

I started messing around with making cocktails at home when I was unemployed between movies. I found the cocktail development process exciting as I was developing my palate by learning what flavors go with what. And by making lots and lots of bad drinks. I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m not sure when or how I fell down the tiki rabbit hole but what I can say is that passion fruit opened the floodgates to my tastebuds and that I needed more of it in my life.

My interest in tiki and tiki-adjacent culture probably first came about when I was very little. Maybe it was my first trip to Disney Land when I was three or our local Hunan style restaurant with immersive decor, but I’ve been a sucker for immersive experiences ever since. Heavy thematics mixed with complex cocktails and an interesting history instantly lured me into the deep end.

My favorite tiki cocktail is probably a missionary’s downfall, however Tiki Time With Cash’s overproof navy grog is the stuff dreams are made of. I’d take a Donn Beach drink over a Vic’s or Crane any day. My favorite non-tiki drink is a Sazerac.

As for my alias, I was given the name Bob Dance when I was around six years old growing up in Northern California (Auburn/Grass Valley). Coincidentally, a few years later when we got internet, I discovered that a car salesman (from an area not to far away) had the same name and his brother is a professional fisherman, Bill Dance. Small world.

And for those who want to know, my ice shaver is a Fujimarca MC711. I’m still learning how to make a proper ice block and experimenting with mint, Campari, angostura, and rum flavored ice.

I remember "Bob Dance" dealerships in the Orlando area growing up. Is that where you are from?
