Good evening! I’ve been lurking among you all for many months.... exploring and feeling out what it would look like to be a member of the Tiki community, and I’m here today to declare that I wish to officially begin my journey! I’ve met many of you at this year’s Inuhele in Atlanta, and wow, what an amazing feeling of Ohana and the beginnings of lifelong friendships and fellowship that have emerged from that. I’m currently in the process of converting a downstairs bedroom into a Tiki Bar (project name is The Tangaroa Tavern Tiki Room) and I’ve already amassed quite a collection to fuel the concoctions that will flow from there! At any rate, I can’t wait to meet and fellowship with more of you once we are no longer isolated to our own private islands!

Mahalo!

Yes indeed! Chuck Dillingham here! I’m just digging through the closet looking for my Honey I Shrunk the Kids Ray-gun so I can get my picture down to a suitable size for the avatar so you guys can recognize me!

Why Thank you! It would appear I met several members at Inuhele! Last night was fantastic, thank you for all of you who had a hand in putting it together!

We have 2 "Tiki" bars... Chopper, which embodies a "Robo-Tiki" theme that is very modern in it's decor and very tiki in its beverage program (and quite fun!). Also we have a bar called "Pearl Diver", it's a bit more of an "elegant" vibe with a great cocktail menu.... but it goes out of it's way to not be overly "tiki" themed (oddly enough). Beyond that we have some enthusiasts, including myself. I'm in the process of building out my own bar in an old downstairs bedroom and have a pretty nice head-star on my liquor collection with about 60 different rums and a total of about 120 bottles not including syrups and mixers. All that being said, one of the best bars in town that can make almost any tiki creation you can dream up is a place called Patterson House. There is often a wait unless you arrive early in the evening, you won't get a drink unless you are seated at the bar or a table/booth, you are expected to maintain a sense of decorum or you will be politely asked to leave, the bartenders are some of the most knowledgeable you will ever meet.... equally adept at reproducing the menu with exacting skill as they are at creating something on the fly to suit your whim and fancy. Oh... and the food (which is all small bites) is excellent. I can't wait until all this is past us to get back there!

Alllooooooohhhhhhaaa!!!

So happy you have declared!

The path is challenging but well
Worth it!

Watch out for the goats! They nibble a bit excitedly when you aren’t expecting it!

Salve usually helps I’m told!

Chuck came to help celebrate a few of my peoples birthday this past weekend and saved my BUTT by bringing two batches of the most tasty drinks!

He made my favorite (jet pilots yum!) and an awesome drink w a delicious peach flavor to it I forgot the name of (sorry chuck!) but it was great... nautilus Maybe was name?

Anyhow... his drinks were spot on! And I just wanted to thank him for that effort. I had plans to batch up some drinks but spent a little too long in the lake the day of the party and didn’t quite find the time for it! Our guests enjoyed the drinks immensely and we ALL had a really much needed night of pool hanging, socializing fun.

This damned Covid business really makes one realize how important Connecting to and actually hugging people really is!

PRAYING no one gets it from the party and thinking to myself that SURELY if they drank the Jet Pilots they should be totally safe ha!!

Thank you Di! I had a great time. Yes, the other cocktail was the Nautilus from Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. It's one of my favorite's there and one that I thought would be a tasty enough treat that even the non-tiki part of the crowd would appreciate! I'm so glad you enjoyed them both and look forward to being able to do it more in the future!
