Greetings from Fort Lauderdale!
My girlfriend and I attended the tiki marketplace event at the Mai Kai on April 17th. We visited the booth and met five members from the Gumbo Limbo chapter. We briefly discussed our love for all things tiki with some of the members. We were given a business card and referred to this website to seek membership.

I am a native South Floridian that has been into tiki culture for quite a while. Since I was a little kid the enchanted tiki room was one of my favorite attractions. As I got to legal drinking age, I discovered the Molokai Bar at the Mai Kai. This started my obsession with tiki bars, whenever I travel, I try to locate a cool tiki bar in the area, even on business trips (to some of my coworker’s dismay lol).

This seems like a great organization filled with likeminded individuals. I look forward to beginning my path to membership!

Aloha Richie! Welcome to port! I remember you from the Tiki Marketplace. It was like a fun party on the suface of the sun! Too hot without a dark shady seat in the Molokai Bar! Hope you all had fun!

We had a blast at the Tiki Marketplace! It just felt odd being there without actually being able to go inside and sit in the Molokai Bar. I miss it very much, hopefully they will be able to have the necessary repairs and reopen it!

Aloha and welcome! I remember speaking to you at our booth during the Tiki Marketplace. The day was too hot and too long and I can't wait to do it all again! I'd say your path to membership has already begun. With luck we will find a way to organize an in-person meet and greet someplace soon now that the vaccine has begun to roll out. In the mean time feel free to tell us more. What's your go-to cocktail at the Molokai?

Thank you for the welcome Doc Aikane! It was quite hot but it was a lot of fun! That's a very tough question. I'd have to say the Barrel O' Rum is my favorite. A few years back they made me a Barrel O' Banana Rom as a test drink which was delicious! My #2 would be the shrunken skull. Closely followed by the Jet Pilot and the Mai Tai.

Likewise John Tiki, unfortunately this was around 2012/2013. I have asked in the past few years about it and they look at me like I have two heads lol. I keep hoping they will discover the recipe again!

The mighty Oz, it would totally be worth it! It's a shame it never made it onto their menu.
