Met the DeTiki folks at Oasis last weekend. They seemed like nice folks and their cases looked pretty cool "strong stuff, made of wood".

We got an unexpected gift from some good friends of ours on Friday. A custom-built portable bar made from a music gear case.
It's about 70 pounds when it's full of stuff (minus booze, though), but it's got wheels.





The foam under the lid has cutouts for a platter and ice bag/tablecloth/garbage bag



The lid turns into a table, too.



There are 2 drawers which hold 8 glasses each - with foam cutouts for a tight fit. They even equipped it - blender, shakers, knives, cutting boards, glasses, reamer and bottles. I'll probably add a few things (and swap out a few), but damn, what an amazing gift. I've got to decorate it now, but this bar is ready to roll!

Red Palms

Modified. They bought the empty case on Craigslist and then handed off to a guy who they knew who does case customization (usually for music gear, not travel bars). They showed him all of the stuff they wanted to put into it and he took it from there. I never would've thought of that.

Wow...that table option sure is nice. Makes me wish I hadn't given away a lot of old luggage when I moved. Hmmmm, thinking about what I do have. I also would love to see a trailer thread...I so want a nice little retro trailer. Gonna watch for suitcases at the thrift stores now.

Red Palms

There is a '56 or '57 Continental languishing beneath a carport less than a mile from my house.
I pass by it every day and dream of restoring it to tuxedo black paint with ox blood red leather
interior and driving it to my tiki bar every day for work. The trailer would be nice for out of town
trips though ....

It would make a great tow car for a tear drop tiki trailer. That Caddy that Travis brought last year needs some company.

My car and motorcycle affliction is a pre-existing pre-marital condition, so I take less domestic heat (bad type) when I drag home a whole car than when I bring home another tiny little tiki mug. YMMV
