The Islands of the Fraternal Order of Moai

I’ll be heading to Las Vegas and bat country in a few weeks. We failed at planning a trip to Miami and the Keys and Vegas seems to make just as much sense as anything else. It’s warm and has dole whip.

Any places other than Golden Tiki and Frankies I should try to get to? Hoping to snag a mug or 5.

Atomic liquors looks fun and at least has a neat neon sign.

I was in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving. If you have to choose between tiki bars, I prefer Golden Tiki over Frankie's. Frankie's is too smokey for me. The Golden Tiki has a lot to see!!

The Neon Museum was a treat. A bit pricey for what it is, but fun. They had a Tim Burton art exhibit at that time. I don't know how long that's going for.

The Rhumbar inside the Mirage has lots of rum and some tiki drinks. No mugs.

Near Old Vegas is the Downtown Cocktail Room (http://www.downtowncocktailroom.com/) - go for Happy Hour. Amazing craft cocktails at great prices.

There's also the Double Down Saloon (https://doubledownsaloon.com/) if you're into dive bars. They have something called "Ass Juice" which I haven't been brave enough to try.

I didn't get to make it to Starboard Tack (https://www.starboardtacklv.com/) during my visit, but other FOM have recommended it. They have tiki drinks. It's off the strip...

And during my research of all things Las Vegas Tiki, I came across Tiki di Amore (http://tikidiamore.com/). I didn't get to go, but apparently it's a tiki bar in the parking lot of an Italian restaurant. Could be fun.

I’ve had the ‘ass juice’ at Double Down and at the time (not sure if it still does), it even came in a mug in the shape of a toilet with the DD name on it. While not tiki, that porcelain throne mug sits amongst my mug collection

Golden Tiki was totally on their game the night I was there. The drinks were A+ and there was a lounge singer and a magician.

Frankies was as great as ever.

Starboard tack has great daiquiris and food. The pu pu platter is the power move.

The Peppermill is a lot of fun and The Pinball Hall of Fame is great if you're into pinball.

if you will have a car, the Valley of Fire is a good half-day trip.

This one may be dated, but one thing I used to do is visit the Rio just before sundown - it is a couple of blocks off of the strip and they have (had?) a rooftop bar and it was awesome to have a drink while watching the sun go down and all the lights on the strip come on.

if you will be there on a Sunday and like to stuff your face, the Sterling Brunch at Bally's was unbelievable. It's pricey but it has all the normal brunch stuff like eggs and waffles, but also everything from steak, raw bar, caviar, lobster, etc. and nonstop champagne included.
