Aloha,

So a bunch of blog posts on the Internet say that August 16th is National Rum Day. We like to do research here at Ipu Ki so we went looking for the origin of this auspicious occasion and there isn't much to work with. This may be a national holiday in Barbados or it may be a marketing ploy by Mount Gay Distilleries Ltd., we can't really tell.

But who cares? In this situation we will accept any evidence no matter how flimsy so all these blog posts seem like perfectly good sources.

We were going to suggest a nice rum punch for this special day but apparently National Rum Punch Day is in September (go figure) so that would be inappropriate. Instead we suggest a rum tasting with five really good sipping rums. It would probably be nice to choose at least one from Barbados.
