F.O.M. Band Spotlight: Go! Tsunami

Aloha!

Something is stirring in the murky waters of Monster Cove. As you navigate the winding road along its banks, you are drawn to the metal machine shed at the water's edge. You find yourself mesmerized by the hypnotic music, the electric flashes of light and the smell of incineration within. As you accelerate through the dangerous curves, the shed's doors thrust open and you are struck by a tsunami of sound that sends you through the guardrail and into the belly of the beast of the inland sea. With a terrifying scream of euphoria, you do not seem to mind your gruesome fate... and the beast is pleased.

From the crimson cloud of smoke bellowing from the shed's orifice emerge the masked mechanics of mayhem... Go! Tsunami. Clad in a standard-issue Go! Tsunami speed suit, guitar-hero and Honui Moai Riptide grins behind his hockey mask emblazoned with the FOM logo. The beast has been fed.

Originating from parts unknown and drawn together by a shared lust for hot rods, horror movies, longboards, tiki idols, pin-ups and cheap beer...four meandering souls converged in Illinois' capitol city of Springfield. Bloated with bacon and Meister Brau, and inspired by the music of Dick Dale and Ace Frehley, they exhumed the corpse of Abraham Lincoln. Conjured by their carnivorous, beer-fueled frenzy, Abe's spirit proclaimed they should henceforth be known as Go! Tsunami and unleash an auditory instro-raucous onslaught that would drive the young zombie girls crazy.

Unified in vision, Riptide, Stingray Jr., Stan Overboard and The Fury spread the monster surf gospel to a willing congregation. Red Palms Chapter by affiliation, Riptide led his crew from playing gigs in the shadow of Lincoln's tomb to shows throughout the chapter's homeland...including a recent invasion of the Chicago-area's infamous Chef Shangri-La. The band has also unleashed itself on Columbus' Hot Rod Hula Hop and Dayton's Surf Ohio FesTiki. The masked henchmen of horror have also managed to catch lightning in a jewel case with the release of "New Wave Order"...a collection of 15 original songs (available in the Coconut Economy) that will make you add motor oil to your scrambled eggs and jiggle with delight. In the month of September, the Go! Tsunami sound surged further from the machine shed as they were recognized as NESMA's (the North East Surf Music Allaince's) Band 'o the Month.

The Fraternal Order of Moai advise you to stay vigilant as Go! Tsunami may soon wash up on a shore near you. Pick up "New Wave Order" and seek them out live at your earliest opportunity. Do not delay - feed the beast!

And be sure to listen to them on the Surfabilly Freakout Halloween Hootenanny:
