Kon-Tiki Chapter Brings Christmas To Kids

Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!

The holidays are upon us and around the land Moai are spreading cheer. In Columbus the Kahiki Chapter is shopping for Toys for Tots, the hat is being passed at holiday parties for donations, and the Dayton Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Moai presented a $250 donation to For Love of Children’s annual Christmas campaign “Christmas for Kids” earmarked for toys and gifts to benefit children in need in the local area.

The Dayton Chapter of The Fraternal Order of Moai, also known as the Kon-Tiki Chapter, in honor of the Dayton midcentury landmark Kon Tiki Cinema, collected money from various fundraisers throughout 2010, and wanted to do something positive for the community. Chapter Treasurer Eric Simon said, “We really wanted to give something back, and FLOC is helping children who really need it.” The donation represents the first of its kind for the fledgling fraternal organization. Simon continued, “We want everyone, especially kids, to feel the spirit of Aloha this time of year, and we’re happy to be able to help FLOC with their program.”

Since 1980, FLOC has been helping serve the needs of abused, neglected and foster children in the Greater Dayton Area. For Love of Children, Inc. (FLOC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of abused and neglected children, as well as children and families in the foster care system. The annual Christmas for Kids holiday project provides toys and gifts to over 2500 children in the Miami Valley.

Keep the torches burning,
