Founder of Kowloon Restaurant passes away


We are sad to learn of the passing of William Wong, 88, the founder and owner of Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus, Mass.

Kowloon, which lays claim to being the largest Chinese restaurant in the world, is a Boston area institution and a regular stop on the Northeast Tiki Tour.

Members of the Queequeg Chapter of the Order remember Mr. Wong fondly, noting that he was often in the restaurant even after turning over daily operation to the third generation of family management. He would even insist on giving his seat to guests if he was eating a meal at the bar.

The Queequeg Chapter will be making a donation in his memory to the Wong Family Association Scholarship Fund on behalf of the Order.
