I’VE HEARD: Some 'Where Are They Now' Stories About FOM Scholarship Recipients!

I've Heard: that the Fraternal Order of Moai has been raising charitable funds for donation to the Easter Island Foundation Scholarship Fund for many years. We have made a difference in many young people's lives in Rapa Nui by providing financial help towards higher learning. These recipients of the funds then go back and use that knowledge to help their island and it's people. We wanted to see how some of these recipients of FOM monies fared, after their studies were completed, and what they were doing on the island now. We have several brief stories below with the reicpient's name and the years they were awarded the scholarships - and one VERY special story that you will soon read! As you read these scholarship winner's stories, every Fellow should be proud of the charitable work we have done in the past and excited about continuing that work in the future!

Lara Tarita Alarcon Rapu (2012, 2013)
Tarita currently lives on the island of Rapa Nui and formally worked as the Regional Counselor of Rapa Nui over the Valparaiso Region of Chile. This was her second term in this citizen elected position, but we have now been informed that Tarita has recently been elected as the new Governor of Rapa Nui! Tarita is the perfect example of someone who took the opportunity provided in part by the FOMs scholarship funds and used that opportunity to work for the continuous improvement of the island and the lives of the people living there. This is fantastic and all FOM fellows should be proud of their contribution to her success! We are VERY proud of Tarita and her accomplishments!

Also, we are in charge of improvements, repairs, and enlargements in subsidy housing that date from last year.
