Did anyone else know about Monster Mash: The Movie?
I had never heard of it and literally just stagger stagger crawl crawled my way into it 10 minutes ago.
It came out in 1995 and was adapted from the 1967 musical play "I'm Sorry the Bridge Is Out, You'll Have to Spend the Night" by Bobby "Boris Monster Mash" Pickett.
This had to be made-for-TV as I can't imagine it got a theatrical release anywhere.
Not even in Columbus, Ohio.

But holy hell is it entertaining!

It's not good.

I mean, it stars Candace Cameron and Jimmie Walker, but it's a lot of fun.

It's kind of got a Rocky Horror vibe without all BDSM undertones.

For real, if you get a chance, give it a watch.
The whole thing is on YouTube.

I don't regularly watch horror movies but Italian horror movies are a whole layer of bad heads above the rest. "Bloody Pit of Horror is neither bloody, has any pit nor has much horror in it unless the amount of time spent watching it constitutes the horror of wasted time you will never get back!

OK. So before this thread I had not even heard of Mad Monster Party. I'm like "Rankin and Bass Halloween special? Yes, please". So I bought it.

WHY IS THIS MOVIE NOT SHOWN ON TV EVERY YEAR FOR HALLOWEEN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I was telling one of my friends about it before I had even watched it and then she told her husband about it and they both wondered why they had never heard of this. She immediately order a copy for her and another copy to be sent to her sister in law.

WHERE HAS THIS BEEN HIDDEN?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?

OMG I remember seeing Mad Monster Party in the movie theater when I was a kid...it actually had a theatrical release.
Years later I worked at a jazz club in Baltimore that was owned by Ethel Ennis who did some of the music for it...

I remember Mad Mad Mad Monsters (animated, not stop action) being aired on TV in 1972 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_Mad_Mad_Monsters). I swear I also saw Mad Monster Party on TV around the same time and I looked for years for a copy.
I finally saw Mad Monster Party again a few years ago (Netflix I believe), just as fun and campy as I remembered.

Yeah. I don't know how I had never heard of it before either. It's 10/10 totally my kind of thing. I've been telling every patient I've had this morning about it. None of them knew about it either.

To be honest, I had never heard of Mad Monster Party until a few years ago, where a theatre found a copy on 35 mm and showed it. I LOVE the Rankin Bass Christmas movies, even the obscure ones like The Life and Adventure of Santa Claus based on the book by L. Frank Baum, yeah the same guy who wrote The Wizard of Oz. Anyways, Mad Monster Party is such a fun movie!

Not quite a "movie", but this is my favorite pumpkin carving video of all time.

Great article about the artist/actor/writer/director, too.

***EDIT***
Dude, you're just like Orson Wells and Ed Wood.

Ha!
Yea well, my "outside-the-box interests" are what keep me from getting promoted here.
I'm just too "off-brand" for the normies.

But the Orson Wells / Ed Wood comparison is something I sincerely appreciate.
...also pretty accurate. If I do say so myself.

Here's my favorite carve from this year.

Was working on some Halloween decor the other night and wanted to put something on the tv in the studio to keep us in the mood, but not distract us too much with exacto knives and such. Decided to check out Transylvania 6500. Woof, who was that movie made for?

I am so happy to hear others have the same feelings as I. I love this movie. a few years back someone release the soundtrack on vinyl and I had to get that too. I also made my own mask of Dracula out of paper mache.
