Aloha All,

A benefit for the Mai Kai staff.

One of the last Tiki Palaces in the US, the fantastic Mai Kai Restaurant in Ft Lauderdale Florida has had some structural damage and they are currently closed. The Gumbo Limbo Chapter of F.O.M. is putting together a silent auction to benefit the staff that are unable to work currently. This includes the kitchen and bar, servers and entertainment staff just to name a few.

We are asking for donations to include in a silent auction. If you would like to donate an item, we thank you. We will need a description and starting price if you have one in mind and a photograph or three. Email Chip at [email protected] or Andy at [email protected]. The auction will go live at the end of November and will coincide with an online Tiki Bingo which will also benefit the Mai Kai employees on December 10th.

Mahalo
Gumbo Limbo Chapter

Would buying good rum and donating said good rum be appropriate?

We are expecting a lot of bidders from out of state... Shipping rum is kind of an issue...that is why we were avoiding having rum as an actual prize in the bingos and auction... As far as I know...

I was thinking of crafting something and then donating it to the silent auction.

When is the latest something can be donated?

We need a description and photo (or drawing or interpretive dance video) on, or as near to Nov 30th, as you can manage.

The actual physical thing needs to be ready to deliver/ship by December 12th.

I hope everyone has slept off the tryptophan and is ready to make or find something awesome to donate to the Silent Auction Mai Kai Employee Holiday Benefit.

We have 4 items so far, but would love to have more. Clear out those closets, get your creative juices flowing, or even donate a service or skill.

Contact me [email protected] or Chip at [email protected]

Some great items in the auction. Just added. A Mai Kai shirt custom made in your size. This is the last 3 yards of this fabric so this will be the last of it's kind.

Jeff Chouinard is going to donate something for the auction.

I believe people are seeing it and donating more items for it. I have some friends in a bidding war over the bottle of rum since I posted the auction on some rum groups.

I don't have anything to donate but I will definitely participate in the Tiki Bingo! I'll keep a lookout for details on that. The event is on December 10th, correct? I'll mark my calendar to support!
